International Surveys

Here, we are going to show our progresses. Our latest evidence are the interviews we made to some people from other countries around the world, about their perspective of Colombia.

The questions were the same for every person.
1.       If I say Colombia, you say… Why?
2.       What do you know about Colombia?
3.       Do you think Colombia is important for the world?
4.       What do you think about Colombians?

.      Name some aspect your country is better at, than Colombia and vice versa.

Jose Silva-USA (Dallas, Texas)

The first thing that comes to my mind when I hear the word "Colombia" is family, one thing I know about Colombians is that they all take care of each other, they are very warm and happy people so when I think of Colombia I think of their families.
I know Colombia is a country that has a huge culture, it has a big diversity of plants and animals, and that even tho they e are going through a lot of problems they still try to get through every single one of them, also that their coffee is delicious and the women are beautiful.
What I think of Colombians is that they are hard workers, they are really happy people and kind hearted, they always give you a smile when you are having trouble and you know you can always count on them.
What Colombia needs from the U.S is an organized government, without corruption and higher payment to the workers, even the common ones like waitress's, housekeepers, etc.
And what the United States needs from Colombia is the sense of unity between its people, Americans have a cold heart and fight only for themselves, while Colombians are there always for each other, through the good and bad times.
If you ask any American about what is the best thing of Colombia they will answer coffee, and also the opportunity of learning about different species of animals and a huge diversity of plants that only Colombia has.

Rashel-Venezuela

If you say Colombia I say parce because I love how Colombians say it.
I know the basic things about Colombia, like the language and their particular words and sayings because in Venezuela there are a lot of Colombians, including my best friend, which is also Colombian.
I've been in Cartagena and I found it really nice, I love the people, they have a similar energy and happiness as Venezuelans.
I do believe Colombia is important to the world. Every country is. Every country has their own culture to show to the world. Actually a lot of traditions of Colombians have been expanded in my country. Colombia also has Shakira, James and Sofia Vergara hahaha. I think Colombians are good people.

I really love my country, I would like to say that Venezuela has better beaches, mountains, desserts and jungles. But I've never been in other parts of Colombia, apart from Cartagena. So it won't be an impartial answer. But I can say that from everything that I've heard, is actually true hahaha. Venezuelans also have more pageants of beauty, including the back to back in the 2009 miss Universe. Sorry for bringing that out hahhaja But in the political and economical situation, they are waaaaay better than Venezuela is. We have worse insecurity problems than Colombia. Worse inflation. Worse government. Worse quality of life. Because... we have a tough situation here.

Sabrina-Argentina

If you say Colombia, the first thing that comes to my mind is “happiness”, because I always see happy things as parties and all that stuff.
Nothing that is the reason I can’t answer number 3 either.
I think they are fighters. I mean, they are kind to people and have a beautiful culture.

Here in Argentina, people are really selfish and egocentric. We should be more like you. And something you can take from us… Mmm nothing. We have nothing to envy. I mean, I love my country, but people s**ks.

Miranda-Paraguay

If you say Colombia, I say coffee. I don`t know why, I just think Colombia produces the best coffee; I have seen this on T.V, so that is why.
I really don’t know anything about Colombia, just… I think that they produce coffee, maybe.
Maybe yes.
I think they are happy, they are too happy. They are nice people.

Paraguay doesn’t have too much to give, and I don’t know things about Colombia so I can’t answer this question.

Eva-España

I am Eva, and I am from Spain. Specifically Galicia.
If you say Colombia, I say… Oh my God --- I don’t remember, I don’t know.
I know anything about Colombia, like nothing. I think is near Venezuela, but I am not really sure.
I don’t think it is important for the world. I just think is another country, lost in South America. I have no idea what is doing there, so…
I think that Colombians are like everyone, I don’t really distinct people because of where they are from, like, and they’re like all the South Americans.

I am not sure of what Colombia has or has not. But in Spain we have tortilla de patata, and I think you have ---

Melissa-USA

When I think of Colombia, I think of pride and honor and everyone has hope that the country is going to get better and look forward to progress and it's really important, I think that is really important about Colombia
I think Colombians are probably some of the most happy and polite, respectful kind, people met and I mean everyone I have met has been so generous, kind and polite and I think that's a really really special characteristic about everybody.

I know a lot of thing about Colombia because I lived there for 4 years, I know that it’s a unique country and I have been all over the world, so trust me on that one, I think Colombia is so unique in so many ways.

Roberto-Brasil

The first thing I think is cocaine thanks to the fame they made.
Big producers of coffee.
I don't know how to answer that question-I think that what Colombia gives to the world is disappointment because they are giving nothing positive in this moment, it's just guerrilla. The positive is artist and miss universe.

They have to learn a lot.
